After a long summer hiatus, I’m baaacckk! Probably not a great professional move for a blogger to be MIA for three months, but I just can’t stand being inside when the calendar reads June, July and August. For most of us in Minnesota, school doesn’t start until the day after Labor Day. You see, we need to squeeze out every last ounce of summer because the dreaded W season comes fast and lasts long! Indeed, I am a summer girl. I think I was supposed to be born in Hawaii or California or somewhere warm, but my ancestors kind of screwed that up. Why the heck they decided to traverse halfway across the country and suddenly stop, I’ll never know. Oh, it’s beautiful here, for sure. For about four months.
If you’ve known me for any length of time, you’ve no doubt witnessed what some might call my energy. I like to go, go, go. This summer was no exception: paddleboarding, boating, surfing, ice cream eating, biking, tennis, the beach, waterparks, walks, family trips, girls weekends, sightseeing, rollercoasters, reading, playing games, friends, soccer, hockey, dates, eating on the deck, grilling, golfing…well, you get the idea. To add to the craziness, we added an extra family member in July with an exchange student from Spain. For three weeks, we showed her the best of Minnesota. (While she may have been content watching the Disney Channel, she definitely got her moneys worth with us!)
I took approximately 1,668 photos since June. I won’t bore you with all of them, so here are just a few of my favorites.
At the beginning of summer, I published my free Hometown Tourist e-Book, where I wrote about our family’s self-imposed challenge to tour the Twin Cities, resulting in a month’s worth of fun activities. If you downloaded a copy, I’d love to hear from you! Did you partake in any of the ideas? If so, what did you do? What was your favorite? Or maybe it spurred some ideas of your own. I’d love to add to my list of great things to do in our great city! Please, comment below and let me know about your summer!
By the way, while I was away on vacation, my main level was painted a different color! I can’t wait for you to see the transformation!
