I hate grocery shopping. I truly do. But we have to eat, say the hungry mouths at my house. Years ago, I decided to make my shopping a little easier by creating a pre-typed grocery checklist. I typed up all the items I buy regularly, then I categorized them by the aisles of the store at which I shop. I designed my list as a half sheet, so two lists fit on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. I print off copies of the list, cut them in half, and store them by my phone in the kitchen. Then, when we run out of something, any member of the family can check the box on the list. When I’m ready to go to the store, I pull the list and it’s ready for me, in order of how I shop. The nice thing is, because the list is on my computer, I can easily add or change things as our eating habits or product needs change. For instance, the list used to contain baby items that, fortunately, I now don’t have to buy. I also have blank spaces to add things to the list that aren’t “regular” items. While I still hate grocery shopping, I love that the task has been made a little easier with the perfect list. I’ve included a link to a PDF of my grocery list here. How about you? How do you make the tedious chore of grocery shopping easier?
