Quick Tip Tuesday: Grocery Checklist

I hate groi-hate-grocery-shoppingcery shopping. I truly do. But we have to eat, say the hungry mouths at my house. Years ago, I decided to make my shopping a little easier by creating a pre-typed grocery checklist. I typed up all the items I buy regularly, then I categorized them by the aisles of the store at which I shop. I designed my list as a half sheet, so two lists fit on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. I print off copies of the list, cut them in half, and store them by my phone in the kitchen. Then, when we run out of something, any member of the family can check the box on the list. When I’m ready to go to the store, I pull theYogurt-grocery list and it’s ready for me, in order of how I shop. The nice thing is, because the list is on my computer, I can easily add or change things as our eating habits or product needs change. For instance, the list used to contain baby items that, fortunately, I now don’t have to buy. I also have blank spaces to add things to the list that aren’t “regular” items. While I still hate grocery shopping, I love that the task has been made a little easier with the perfect list. I’ve included a link to a PDF of my grocery list here. How about you? How do you make the tedious chore of grocery shopping easier?

grocery IQ! Same concept but it’s an app on my phone. My hubby and I use the same log-in so whoever goes to the store has the most up to date list. I have separate losts for Costco, groceries and Target.

Ooh, thanks for the suggestion, Shaun. I love it! This looks super handy. A few questions for you: Can you add just a generic form of a product, such as cheese, or do you have to insert an actual product name, like Kraft? Can you also add coupons? How long would you say it took you to set it up?

Ha Julee, I didn’t think there was anyone out there as anal as me! I do the same thing but I love seeing how you made your list. Thanks for sharing. Mine has a lot more on it than yours though. I hope everyone takes you up on this idea as it is a HUGE time saver for my family!
