Plan ahead: Christmas Cards

Christmas cardsI don’t know what your philosophy is on decorating early for Christmas. There are definitely two camps: yay or nay. Some are heck ya, I’ll decorate now (my friend Karen in Utah already has her tree up!). Others are like me. Never, ever will I decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving — the day after Thanksgiving, to be exact. For 19 years, that has been my day to decorate the Christmas tree, hang the stockings and take out the manger scene. However, since I am a planner, there is one area that I do plan ahead for and that is our Christmas cards. Why? Do you know that most of the great deals on cards happen before Thanksgiving? Plus, for me, it helps to check something off the to-do list early. This year, I found a design (and price) that I loved on I designed and ordered my cards on Monday night; on Wednesday afternoon — not even 48 hours later — those cards were in my sweet little hands. {From Cali to Minnesota!} That’s some serious customer service.

Minted package

What I absolutely love about this site are all the personal touches. The label on my cards reads “packaged by Sue, especially for Julee.” On top of that, each of the cards are created by independent designers. When I opened the box, there was this lovely envelope with a message from the designer. How sweet is that?

I also was able to get an additional $25 off and free shipping on my order by ordering early. Go to their website to check out designs and current specials. To compare pricing and designs, I designed a couple of cards on Shutterfly (my usual go-to site), but they were around $80 more for the same quantity, and that was with a 40% off savings. To avoid revealing my cards early to friends and family who will be receiving them in the mail, I won’t show you my full design, but I was thrilled to find an option for a postcard design. This means no labeling and sealing of envelopes, saving me time! Plus, an extra bonus? Potentially cheaper postage. I’m excited to send out our cards, but just like decorating for Christmas, they’ll have to wait until after Thanksgiving to hit the mailboxes.

Don’t you just love opening mail in December? Eek! I anxiously await all the beautiful cards and photos. Plan ahead and order yours now!

I will receive a small commission if you decide to use the links in this post. However, I paid full price for my cards and had an excellent experience with before I applied to be an affiliate, so my favorable opinion is 100% my own.

I’m with you. Order cards early, send them and decorate the house after Thanksgiving. I am almost done with our cards from Shutterfly and will take advantage of the 50% off the order special. Happy thanksgiving. . . then merry christmas! 🙂
