Fixer Upper-inspired walls

My favorite thing to do in the kitchen is to bake. Period. Cooking, on the other hand, is best done at a restaurant, or by a friend, or by my mom. I just don’t have the knack for cooking — nor the interest. But baking? Show me a dessert cookbook {see just a handful in my collection below} and you’ve sold me. Ask me to bring a dessert, and I’ll happily oblige.

After our main floor was painted last summer, I searched and searched for the perfect thing to place on this blank wall in our kitchen. It was no surprise then, after months of looking, that this metal bakery sign from Magnolia Market called my name.

It must be one of their most popular items, because I noticed that it’s once again out of stock. I’m still dreaming of taking a road trip to Waco to visit the Silos, and if you have no idea what I’m talking about, then you must tune in to HGTV’s Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines. My house doesn’t fit that farmhouse style of decorating, but every now and then I give myself permission to throw in a distressed piece or two.

My family, who flatters me and tells me I make the best chocolate cookies in the world, loves that I feel a little bit more inspired in the kitchen.

Baking is my passion

With the added ease of online shopping, it’s become much easier to find décor with meaning. Don’t just put things on the walls because. Put things around your home that tell a story — your story.

Happy decorating!
